News Channel 13: Interest in nursing grows at ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ amid major shortages

The pandemic is still having a major impact on hospitals dealing with a nursing shortage. However, just as nurses have left the profession, at Maria, we know there are many excited to join it. Nursing makes up the largest portion of the College’s student enrollment. In fact, it’s up nearly 47 percent from last year. For the Fall 2022 semester, the College is reporting the largest incoming class in its nearly 65-year history. On Sunday, August 14, 2022, 17 students made history at ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ as the first graduate students to receive a master’s degree from the nearly 65-year old institution. The 2022 Graduate Commencement Ceremony was the first of its kind for ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½, celebrating the students’ successful completion of the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program.

ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) receives full accreditation

ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ recently received full accreditation status of its Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). The College may now officially award the Master of Science degree and graduating students can sit for the national certification examination administered by the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, students will hold the title: Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR) and can then apply for licensure in the United States.

Center for Disability Services presents major gift to ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½

On Tuesday, May 31, the Center for Disability Services presented ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ with a check for $50,000 to endow a scholarship to be named after the late Eunice Antonucci. The scholarship will be used to support healthcare education at the College.
